The Quran and the Bible
What are the similarities between the Bible and the Quran and where do their messages differ? The most important similarity is that the both say that it exists only one God and He has created the heaven and the earth. The most remarkable difference concerns who Jesus the Nazarene is and how man is saved from the judgment of God.
The Scriptures witness for God
In some cases the Quran says almost in the same way as the Bible. In many cases the Bible says the opposite of the Quran. In the same way as your tongue can test the taste of foods your spirit can test the messages. So compare and test the spirits of these messages.

Creation
The Quran: "Praise be to God, who created the heavens and the earth, and made the darkness and the light." Quran 6:1

The Bible: "In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth." Ge.1:1

The one God
The Quran: "Your god is one god; there is no god but He, Most Gracious, Most Merciful." Quran 2:163   "Say, 'O followers of the scripture, let us come to a logical agreement between us and you: that we shall not worship except God; that we never set up any idols besides Him, nor set up any human beings as lords beside God.'" Quran 3:64

The Bible: "Jesus answered him: 'The first of all the commandments is: 'Hear, O Israel, the LORD our God, the LORD is one'." Mr.12:29   Jesus said: "You shall worship the LORD your God, and Him only you shall serve." Mt.4:10   Apostle Paul said: "We know that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is no other God but one." 1Co.8:4

Who gets grace from God?
The Quran: "Repentance is acceptable by God from those who fall in sin out of ignorance, then repent immediately thereafter." Quran 4:17

The Bible: "God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble." Jas.4:6

The book says about itself
The Quran: "The book is, without a doubt, a revelation from the Lord of the universe." Quran 32:1   "We have cited for the people every kind of example in this Quran, that they may take heed. An Arabic Quran, without any ambiguity, that they may be righteous." Quran 39:27-28

The Bible: "Knowing this first, that no prophecy of Scripture is of any private interpretation, for prophecy never came by the will of man, but holy men of God spoke as they were moved by the Holy Spirit." 2Pe.1:20,21

Muhammad and Jesus
The Quran: "You shall believe in God and His messengers. You shall not say, 'Trinity.' You shall refrain from this for your own good. God is only one god. Be He glorified; He is much too glorious to have a son." Quran 4:171   "Pagans indeed are those who say that God is the Messiah, son of Mary." Quran 5:72   "Muhammad was not the father of any man among you. He was a messenger of God and the final prophet." Quran 33:40

The Bible: "If He called them gods, to whom the word of God came (and the Scripture cannot be broken), do you say of Him whom the Father sanctified and sent into the world, 'You are blaspheming,' because I said, 'I am the Son of God'?" Joh.10:35-36   Jesus says: "If anyone wills to do His will, he shall know concerning the doctrine, whether it is from God or whether I speak on my own authority." Joh.7:17

The atonement of sins and getting forgiveness
The Quran: "If you refrain from committing the gross sins that are prohibited for you, we will remit your sins, and admit you an honorable admittance." Quran 4:31   "Proclaim: 'If you love God, you should follow me.' God will then love you, and forgive your sins." Quran 3:31

The Bible: "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." Joh.3:16   "In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins." 1Jo.4:10   "We love Him because He first loved us." 1Jo.4:19

How are we saved?
The Quran: "O you who believe, let Me inform you of a trade that will save you from painful retribution. Believe in God and His messenger and strive in the cause of God with your money and your lives. This is the best deal for you, if you only knew. In return, He forgives your sins, and admits you into gardens with flowing streams, with beautiful mansions in the gardens of Eden. This is the greatest triumph." Quran 61:10-12

The Bible: "For by grace you have been saved, through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast." Eph.2:8-9   "If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus (= God) and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation." Ro.10:9-10

Good deeds
The Quran: "If you declare your charities, they are still good. But if you keep them anonymous, and give them to the poor, it is better for you, and remits more of your sins." Quran 2:271

The Bible: "But when you do a charitable deed, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, that your charitable deed may be in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will Himself reward you openly." Mt.6:3-4

Revenge
The Quran: "O you who believe, equivalence is the law decreed for you when dealing with murder..." Quran 2:178   "Equivalence is a life saving law for you." Quran 2:179   "And if you punish, you shall inflict an equivalent punishment. But if you resort to patience (instead of revenge), it would be better for the patient ones." Quran 16:126

The Bible: "You have heard that it was said, 'An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth'. But I tell you not to resist an evil person." Mt.5:38-42   "Do not avenge yourselves, but rather give place to wrath; for it is written, 'Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord'." Ro.12:19

War
The Quran: "You may fight in the cause of God against those who attack you, but do not aggress. God does not love the aggressors. You may kill those who wage war against you, ..." Quran 2:190-191   "Unless these people leave you alone, offer you peace, and stop fighting you, you may fight them when you encounter them. Against these, we give you a clear authorization." Quran 4:91   "Those who readily fight in the cause of God are those who forsake this world in favor of the Hereafter. Whoever fights in the cause of God, then gets killed, or attains victory, we will surely grant him a great recompense." Quran 4:74

The Bible: "But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you." Mt.5:44   "But I say to you who hear: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, and pray for those who spitefully use you. To him who strikes you on one cheek, offer the other also. And from him takes away your cloak, do not withhold your tunic either." Lu.6:27-29   "Jesus said to him: 'Put your sword in its place, for all who take the sword will perish by the sword." Mt.26:52

Divorce
The Quran: "Those who intend to divorce their wives shall wait four months; if they change their minds and reconcile, then God is Forgiver, Merciful. If they go through with the divorce, then God is Hearer, Knower. The divorced women shall wait three menstruations." Quran 2:226-228

The Bible: "Whoever divorces his wife and marries another commits adultery; and whoever marries her who is divorced from her husband commits adultery." Lu.16:18   "A wife is bound by law as long as her husband lives; but if her husband dies, she is at liberty to be married to whom she wishes." 1Co.7:39

Treatment of a woman
The Quran: "If you experience rebellion from the women, you shall first talk to them, then deserting them in bed, then you may beat them. If they obey you, you are not permitted to transgress against them." Quran 4:34

The Bible: "Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her." Eph.5:25

Hell
The Quran: "Surely, those who disbelieve in our revelations, we will condemn them to the hellfire. Whenever their skins are burnt, we will give them new skins. Thus, they will suffer continuously." Quran 4:56

The Bible: "And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire." Re.20:15   "But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable, murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone, which is the second death." Re.21:8

Heaven
The Quran: "As for those who believe and lead a righteous life - we never burden any soul beyond its means - these will be the dwellers of Paradise. They abide in it forever. We will remove all jealousy from their hearts. Rivers will flow beneath them, and they will say, 'God be praised for guiding us. We could not possibly be guided, if it were not that God has guided us. The messengers of our Lord did bring the truth.' They will be called: 'This is your Paradise. You have inherited it, in return for your works.'" Quran 7:42-43

The Bible: "There shall by no means enter it anything that defiles, or causes an abomination or a lie, but only those who are written in the Lamb's Book of Life. And he showed me the river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding from the throne of God and of the Lamb. In the middle of its street, and on either side of the river, was the tree of life, which bore twelve fruits, each tree yielding its fruit every month. The leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. And there shall be no more curse, but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it, and His servants shall serve Him. They shall see His face, and His name shall be on their foreheads." Re.21:27-22:1-4

Muhammad or the apostles of Jesus
Muhammad disbelieves the two great truths of the Bible's Jesus: Jesus is the Son of God and only His atoning sacrifice opens for us the acceptance of God.

The apostles of Jesus have written for us the teachings of Jesus, which are conflicting with the teachings of Muhammad. Who tells the truth? Isn't it easier to trust in the apostles who lived together with Jesus than to trust in Muhammad who lived 600 years later? Either Muhammad lies or the Apostles, but the both cannot be the witnesses of the same God.

If you are a Muslim, I urge you to appeal to Jesus of the Bible. You can get the forgiveness of your sins only from Him, because only He can pay to God the wages of your sins. If you hold on to the good and give up the bad, one day you will confess that Jesus is your Lord.
