Elections and freedom
Freedom gives power and selections lead to responsibility. In a parliamentary election you transfer your power to your lord. Voting affects more you than the decisions that will be done in a parliament.
Power and responsibilityOnly a free man can have power. A slave cannot give his power to anybody, because he has not got it. His master does all decisions instead of him. If someone has freedom, he also has the responsibility of the consequences of his decisions.
Voting in a parliamentary election means transferring and not exercising of power. A binding referendum concerning a certain issue would be wielding power and real
democracy. So do you visit every fourth year in a
polling booth only to give your power away? Did you get any compensation for your transfer of power?
Your relationship to a
parliament is like a relationship of a slave to his master. The parliament does decisions instead of you. Your role is only to
obey what is decided, or your master will punish you. The government has given you the right to
vote so that you could select your master. What is the
party whose
slavery you selected? You bear the responsibility of your power transfer although your master will be responsible for his decisions.
Probably you say to me that you must
obey the
parliament although you don't
vote. That is true but it is a different thing to obey as an
outsider than to take part in its policy. He who doesn't vote has bigger mental freedom than voters. You need to be free from
party politics to be able to see things correctly. You can influence matters otherwise than by voting. You can act for good things regardless of who is sitting in a parliament.
Voting can cause you to respect too much the decisions of a
parliament. Politicians want you to
vote because they like to bind your
conscience to their decisions. The government can easily get even the place of God in your eyes.
If you are
spiritually free you can recognise that a
parliament has not legislative power in
moral issues. Do not allow human
rules to affect the content of your
conscience. Don't allow the godless
laws of a parliament to bind your conscience! Do not allow a majority to dictate what is right and what is wrong! We all account for our selections to God.
VotingI am not going to
vote in the parliamentary
election. Why? Because I do not accept majority decisions. I accept only right decisions. They are not done by voting. If I accepted voting then I also accepted the power of majority. Having to vote means that there has been a
quarrel. No smoke without a fire; no voting without a dispute. If we are unanimous then voting is not needed.
We should aim at unanimous decisions. Now in Finland people are annoyed with
parties not differing enough from each other. They are much too unanimous for good
voting. Therefore it can be noticed that
quarrels between parties are made up on purpose for the
election. They try "to save democracy" with disputes, because in democracy people need to have alternatives.
Another reason why I don't
vote is the fact that I am a slave
servant of God for the sake of Jesus. I have already voted for Jesus and transferred my power to Him. He is my Lord and my God. He will do all decisions for me. He once died for me and
suffered my
punishment. He is worthy to get all power. He is also able to push my benefits better than any
parliament, because He
overcame death and lives forever. "His
Kingdom come!"
Rule of the people or expertsIn human world it is often hard to reach unanimous decisions, although serious negotiations are done. However
voting is not the only alternative. In every matter authority can be given to the highest available expertise. Majority is often wrong, but experts are often right.
A
parliament could be changed to a council of experts. The best specialists of every sector would be selected through the tests to be the decision-makers and the members of the council.
"For lack of guidance a nation falls, but many advisers make victory sure." Proverbs 11:14 Certainly God is the greatest expert, but because the mankind has dismissed Him, the best available experts should be used.
Christian DemocratsIt is downright grotesque that Christian Democratic
parties exist, although there is nothing democratic in Christianity. The word democrat means the
rule of the people. Christianity is based on the ruling of God. Power belongs to God not to a people. There is no
parliament in
heaven but God is King and He has the council of the twenty-four
elders. "Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven!"
Suppressing of democracies comes as an answer to your Lord's Prayer.Democracy doesn't come from God but from the
devil. The mankind's great common
rebellion against God is based on the fact that the devil promised man power. He already tempted Eve to taste a little bit power by saying:
"You will not surely die, for God knows that when you eat of it your eyes will be opened, and you will be like God knowing good and evil." Genesis 3:4-5 One
election was advertised with the slogan: "Taste a piece of power. Vote!" In the advertising picture there was a fruit from which a piece had been bitten. How well that advertisement expressed the transfer of power to the
devil which the mankind has done! If you taste power sweet, remember that bearing responsibility can be a bitter piece.
Keep away from
party politics. If you are interested in acting with the public matters of a
nation, study for a post of a public
servant and serve in that post as did Daniel of the Bible. He was able to carry out matter-of-fact policy and to be outside parties so well that he was able to maintain his position although a neighbouring state occupied his country.
Effect of electionDo you
believe that your voting has an effect on the work of a parliament? You give your
vote to a person or to a
party. Your representative has been bound to party
discipline and your party has been bound to the support of sponsors and grey eminence. Your vote affects them very little. More your voting affects you.
By
voting you build your own
identity. Through voting you share the decisions that your representative does. You have your personal
sins but also there are the common sins of your society. Be aware, by voting you can share in the sins of others. You and your representative together will account to God for the decisions of your representative.
Members of a
parliament don't account to the people or to their voters, but to God, because as a matter of fact all power belongs to God. By voting you can share in the
partial spirit. You are in danger to become a
sectarian (=partial-minded), if you take voting seriously. To be able to keep your judicial mind healthy keep an
impartial mind. So do not vote for anybody or for anything, but find out what is right and carry the matter through, regardless of the actions of others. An impartial mind is a noble attitude that doesn't search for
votes.
